About the Author

Merle H. Horwitz grew up in Pasadena, California. He attended Pasadena City College and graduated from the University of Southern California in the 1950s. Thereafter he attended Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and UCLA. He became editor of the Century City Bar News and contributed articles to various legal journals. He was editor of the Pasadena Record... a weekly newspaper published in Pasadena in the 1960s as well as a contributing editor to the State Labor News during the same period. He engaged primarily in trial work representing at times various celebrities in domestic related cases which was the inspiration for this book. It is set in a Los Angeles courtroom with its Hollywood glitz and street characters. You might recognize the era of Janis Joplin. Merle wrote his first book, one of the Harvey Ace books, which was published by Knightsbridge.

Merle's previous books, available on this website are: Love is Love... But Business is Business. The first edition of this book was published in the 1980s and Merle was among the first in the legal profession to propose that rights arise when people live together depending on individual facts. In 2008 he co-wrote Defeat Foreclosure with California Realtor William Dorich, a book written to help homeowners save their home, protect their credit and defend their rights.

Merle was a member of the California Bar, the Beverly Hills Bar and the Century City Bar. He also tried cases in a half dozen other states and wrote another Harvey Ace book and when that all got boring he wrote the Great Deli Cookbook... It was a great success.
